My name is Vaishak Gopi. I am based in Denver, Colorado. But I was born in Kerala, India (I may be biased but people call it God’s Own Country - highly recommend visiting) but grew up in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. I attended Colorado State University (CSU) and graduated in 2016 with my Bachelors and Masters in Civil Engineering. Even though life as an 18year old brand new immigrant was hard in a new culture, I fell in love with everything Colorado and America had to offer. I have been here since 2010 with brief stints in other states. My big boy career has been in Structural Engineering for the past 10 years. If you are unfamiliar with what Structural Engineering is, I do the math and physics behind designing 1-10 story tall concrete buildings. I also do a fair bit of forensic engineering. Forensic engineering is more about investigating issues in an already built structure, often using incomplete information and engineering judgment. Think about it as a crime scene investigation for buildings. I’m pretty good at my big boy job.  

 

According to my fiance, I am a very good cook, hard worker, funny, passionate, and overall great guy she would spend the rest of her life with, although I could be doing a much better job playing with our cat Daisy. I also love being outdoors (probably not a surprise for a Coloradoan). I love hiking in the summer! And I turned that love into summiting the tallest peak in Africa (Mt. Kilimanjaro) and now I’m working towards my next big mountain. In the winter, I have been getting into ice climbing and I’m loving it! I just started taking ski lessons and I’m excited about where skiing could take me in the mountains and life. When not in the mountains, I spend most of my time exploring Denver going to happy hours, dinners and catching up with friends. 

 

I have been in love with photography since I was 10 years old, after I used a digital camera for the first time. Over time, my instrument of choice for capturing photos has shifted, but my passion for it has stayed the same. I have always loved capturing every little and seemingly insignificant moment of life around me. I believe it helps me re-live my favourite memories. It is with this intent that I got into photography so I can help others like yourself re-live your favourite memories.
